Happy Birthday...

to me! Today is my birthday. It was a really nice day. Jesse gave me a new watch. It's really nice and modern and I can't wait to wear it. Michael gave me a necklace that is really pretty too. I got lots of birthday wishes from friends throughout the day, which always make me smile. My boss took me out to lunch and my other friends at work surprised me with cupcakes in the afternoon. They got me a chocolate one...they know me too well! Jesse and I got take-out from our favorite Italian place near home, so I didn't have to cook and clean the kitchen :). Then we spent our evening playing with Michael. It was a really good birthday!

Happy Anniversary - June 24, 2011

Happy 5 year anniversary to us!!!  Jesse and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary this weekend.  I can't believe it's been that long!  Time has gone by fast, but life sure has been busy.  In that time, we have bought two houses, sold a house, moved twice, bought a car, had a baby, and even managed to travel some.  I have absolutely no complaints.  We enjoy spending time together and have built a very happy life so far.  Even when things get stressful, frustrating, and hard, the good always far outweighs the bad...always.  I am excited to see what the next five years will bring.

To celebrate, we went to dinner to a steakhouse called Killen's.

Happy 5 years to us!

This card was on our table when we arrived.  So nice :)

We ordered a 32 oz. bone-in ribeye Kobe steak.  That is the bone with the steak on the end.  We have never seen anything like this before! Yes, we split it.  No way could I eat all that! (The mushrooms were fantastic also).

Yes, even after that giant steak, I ordered dessert.  Like there was any question if I would?!?!  We shared a chocolate cake, with chocolate filling, topped with chocolate something.  I don't really know; they had me after the first chocolate.

And I topped it off with an Irish coffee!  Yum-O!!!!

Michael's Shenanigans

Michael is hilarious. The things he does just crack me up and I often wonder where he comes up with his antics. Many times his shenanigans involve Tucker. They are best buddies, but poor Tucker puts up with a lot of loving abuse.

Michael loves to run into the laundry room where Tucker's food and water are. Tucker always runs in after him for fear that he may lose his food. The other day they were in there...quietly. That is never a good sign. I walk in and Michael had spilled Tucker's food all over the laundry room floor. He was putting pieces through a funnel he found. Lord knows why! All I could do was laugh!

Notice the sad look on Tucker's face.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's and Grandad's out there!  We had a really fun weekend.  Friday evening, Jesse, Michael, and I went to a local Mexican restaurant for dinner.  The food is good, the prices are reasonable, and it's super family friendly.  The people there are super nice, and Michael got lots of attention.  Then we made a stop for a snow cone.  Snow cones are definitely my new favorite summer treat.  OMG...so yummy!!!  I like to try all the different, fancy flavors like Tiger's Blood or Wedding Cake.  Jesse sticks to the tried and true favorites like Grape.

Saturday was our big Father's Day celebration.  We went to Jesse's parents house Saturday morning for breakfast.  Michael's Uncle Tony was in town, and they adore each other.  We had a great visit and some yummy homemade blueberry pancakes.  When we left, Michael was wiped out!  Later that afternoon, my folks came over for some burgers.  Before we cooked, my dad and Jesse hung up a couple of shades on our patio.  It was easy, but took way longer than expected.  Oh well, they are up now and providing some much needed shade.

 yay!  they are up!

While Jesse and my dad were working, Michael was playing.  He loves splashing in his little pool and playing with the hose.  Tucker wanted in on the fun too!

P.S. This is one of my favorite pics of Jesse and Michael.  He's such a proud Daddy!!!

Special Treats

Jesse and I had a special treat today. Our dear friends Mike and Jessica were blessed with the arrival of their twins one month ago. I am sad to say that it took us this long to be able to visit them. However, I am happy that I finally got to meet Jack and Sophie. And it is always great seeing their new mommy and daddy! It's difficult to see them often because we live on opposite sides of town. I mean, we are practically in Galveston and they may as well have a Dallas address! But we had a great visit and they are just glowing with happiness. The twins are precious happy babies. I know it's bad to say, but some newborns are just not cute (you know it's true). But these little ones really are, and I'm not just saying that. And they are so tiny, OMG such little ones. So easy it is to forget how small babies can be! Michael had fun bothering playing with their dog too.

Congratulations Mike and Jessica! Thanks for letting us steal a few hours of your afternoon. We are excited to see Jack and Sophie grow up.

Impulse Buyer

We have all done it, right? We've bought something on a whim that we don't need. I'm not really too bad about that. I do have some self control. I know what my budget is and I don't normally spend more than I can afford. I really hate bills, especially credit card bills. But, I am a sucker for the "spend $50 and save $10". Or any similar type of promotion. I always get my total as close to $50 as possible. You know the old saying " you have to spend money to save money" (or something like that) :).

Anyway, this weekend Jesse and I were out looking for patio furniture. Although we need some furniture we weren't planning to get anything right away. I just wanted to see what my options were. Well, during the course of patio furniture shopping, we saw a kitchen table that we fell in love with. So, guess what's sitting in my kitchen right now? Yup, that's right. Who impulse buys a kitchen table?!?! I should also note that we already had one that was perfectly fine, so it wasn't like we were in dire need of one. Oh well. We love it, and there is no buyers remorse going on.

PS: we also purchased patio furniture :). So much for "just looking"!
